The date is 16th October, 2150, the last of the invaders have fallen. It is the fourth hour of the day and the sun is yet to rise above the horizon. The battle for Dahomey had just ended the night before and a continent-wide broadcast was sent over the city’s LFRs so that all 12 generations of receiver technology could intercept and process the broadcast signal. Dahomey had been under siege for 3 months – the longest siege any African city had experienced in recent times – by mortified cyborg soldiers, who had for the last one month survived without power and supplies. They were the first battalion to cross over into the hinterland through Lake Volta. They crossed in Argon powered hovercrafts which were in fact like floating bubbles in the sky. It was really a beautiful sight to behold yet extremely terrifying. Immediately after their herculean landing mission, all coms and support were surprisingly cut-off from their home base. The Motherland fighters were all on their own now, with a single mission; to occupy Dahomey. Outside the city was a thick forest, that formed a ring around it. Further, there was a grass clearing between the forest and the city walls. The Motherland soldiers were camped in this inner clearing. They chose to stay there to prevent any ambush attacks and gain entry into city as soon as any opening presented itself. It was this hope that proved to be their greatest demise.
